Fibromyalgia Symptom Checklist
The medical condition called fibromyalgia, which is characterized by excruciating body pains without obvious causes, can manifest in several symptoms. But, the fibromyalgia symptom checklist could overlap the symptoms of other clinical as well as psychological diseases and disorders. That's why it's very important to seek medical consult to rule out any other diseases and disorders that have similar symptoms as fibromyalgia.
The fibromyalgia symptom checklist, however, include the following:
Pain - Unlike in other diseases wherein the cause of pain is visible (e.g. a swollen ankle due to rheumatoid arthritis), the pain from fibromyalgia have no visible cause. The pain will just manifest anytime at a perfectly find looking tissue. In extreme cases, the pain could be debilitating, while in milder cases, the sufferer may go about doing minor choirs.
Fibrofog - This is a cognitive problem common among fibromyalgia sufferers. This symptom of fibromyalgia is characterized by impaired memory, speech, and learning, albeit this condition is a temporary manifestation. Fibrofog seems to occur every morning when the sufferer had just woken up from sleep and it will dissipate as the day progresses. It could also occur during times when the pain is severe.
Morning stiffness - Fibromyalgia sufferers often complain about muscle and joint tightness when they wake up in the morning. The stiffness and the sore feeling could last for half to one hour. But in severe cases, the stiffness could last the whole day, too. Most complained about the joint stiffness in their extremities and connective tissues.
Nausea - The feeling of being nauseated and wanting to vomit is also a pretty common symptom for fibromyalgia. Sweating, blurred vision, and dizziness accompany the feeling of being nauseated. Often, the nausea felt by fibromyalgia sufferers is caused by the equilibrium problem. Fibromyalgia also seems to mess up a person's source of equilibrium, which is found in the inner part of the ears.
All of the manifestations found in the fibromyalgia symptom checklist can also be found in some other diseases and disorders. Only a trained physician can diagnose fibromyalgia with finality.
