Fibromyalgia Disability
Because fibromyalgia have no visible indications that a person can see among sufferers, there's a debate over its ability to cause disability. Fibromyalgia disability is debated not just among medical practitioners and patients, but also in Social Security claims. And, the biggest loser of all is the patient who is feeling the pain but is denied Social Security Disability claim because the judge couldn't see pass the perfect physique of the patient. Who can blame them, even some doctors don't believe in fibromyalgia.
Unlike other obvious disease like rheumatoid arthritis that can cause joints and muscles inflammation, fibromyalgia do not have these visible manifestations. That's giving disability claimants a hard time to earn a cover. The Social Security just refused to grant fibromyalgia disability claim. And, the debate over fibromyalgia among the medical professionals as a genuine clinical condition is not helping patients to win their case.
If you are suffering from fibromyalgia, however, there are still ways you can be granted a cover. Of course you need a competent lawyer to win your case, but remembering some points on how to be granted a fibromyalgia disability claim is very helpful in winning your claim, too. The number one point that a judge is looking for to grant you a disability claim is enough reason to believe that your condition is hampering your ability to perform simple task required in a workplace. If you can prove that you are not able to sit down and adjust yourself on your seat required for a nine-to-five job, then you have just given the judge no reason to deny your claim.
With fibromyalgia, however, this task is almost always an uphill battle. First, you need to find a doctor who believes in fibromyalgia as a medical condition. He needs to be competent enough to diagnose the problem correctly and document “all” your symptoms. Remember that judges are feed up hearing claims about excruciating pain from arthritis, lupus, etc. Focus on your other symptoms besides pain. For instance, one symptom of fibromyalgia is irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Document your IBS attacks and prove to the judge that it's impossible for you to work and constantly get up to go to the bathroom to move your bowel.
Although proving fibromyalgia disability is difficult, but it's not impossible. If you just bear in mind to prove to the judge that you are not able to work properly, then you can be granted a cover. Document “all” your symptoms and don't forget to highlight symptoms you have other than pain.
